UNZIPPED! Featuring Sydney Burgoyne
What is your passion? My passion is the all encompassing travel lifestyle. What I mean by that is immersing myself in other cultures, making lifelong friends across the world and sharing stories, trying new food and sipping new wine. I love holding a plane or train ticket knowing I'm about to embark on an adventure. There's a freedom that comes with traveling and that's what gets me all fired up about life.
What would be your superpower? Not to sound like a pageant contestant but if I had one superpower it would be called the love power. I would zap everyone with love so that there would only be peace in the world. Insert pageant hand wave here.
What makes you proud to be a woman? I could not be more proud to be a woman because being a man seems too easy! As women, we get to have deep relationships with other females, mothers, daughters, sisters and girlfriends. We naturally think deeper and love harder and I wouldn't have it any other way.
What made you fall in love with adventure and the outdoors? I'll have to give credit to my mom on this one. She raised me traveling the world with a passport in my hand. I've been so blessed to have been so many places in my life and not take it for granted. I found my love for the outdoors through Girls Scouts camp. I went to summer camp for 9 years as a kid and that's where I learned to ride horses, swim and do other outdoor activities, and gained a respect for being in nature.
How did you find Zip Hers and why do you love them? I found Zip Hers via the wonderful super woman Founder & CEO Debbie Mercer. She is my oldest and best friend's mom and by proxy she is my second mom. Not only is Zip Hers a genius and innovative idea but the company was created with love and passion (and blood, sweat and tears), and that's why I love them. It's an outdoor apparel company but it's so much more. The company prides itself on being female operated, sustainable and fun! I also loathe pulling my pants down to pee anywhere except my own bathroom and when she told me about her idea my brain exploded. Did I say genius?!
What one piece of advice would you give your Zip Hers Sisters? My advice to my fellow Zip Hers Sisters is to keep supporting one another. There is so much negativity, stress and anxiety in our every day lives and none of us probably even realize how much a little support can go a long way. Be open, be kind and lean on your sisters when you need them!
What are 3 things you don’t want to live without? I don't want to ever live without my family, my passport and pickles...in no particular order.
What is the most exciting/adventurous thing you have ever done? Although I have done many adventurous things such as living in Barcelona for 6 months, sky diving, bungee jumping and scuba diving, the most exciting thing I've ever done has been falling in love and now currently expecting my first baby. And yes...it's a girl!
If you could walk and talk with 3 women, who would they be? I'd have to invite my girl Stevie Nicks, I'd pay big bucks to walk with her and hear all of her stories. I'd love to have my aunt Dana back and get a stroll in with her again. Lastly I'd enjoy a walk with my partner's grandma. She sounded like a wonderful woman and I wish I had the chance to meet her.
What is your favorite time of the day? I love the evening time, when there's a beautiful, wild and colorful sunset. I live in Austin and for us, we love taking our daily walk at this time or sitting out back when the wind chimes are going and all the creatures are hanging out in nature. Whenever it's not blazing hot, let me put it that way!
What are 3 words that describe you? Only 3? Just kidding! I'd say the first three that come to mind are funny, loving and outgoing.
Who's an artist on your adventure playlist? I don't listen to them all the time but there's something about listening to the Lumineers and folk tunes on the road that opens the soul.
What's your go-to hiking snack? I'm a ride or die trail mix gal, especially if it's a spicy mix. Does wine count also?
What's your most used emoji? That face with the smirk, most likely because I just said something sarcastic or not safe for work.
